Trooper And Plainfield Officer Dragged By Car

A State Police Trooper and Plainfield Police Officer were dragged by a car on Route 14 in Canterbury Friday night, according to police.

Police said at 5:44 p.m. Connecticut State Trooper Chris Toney was traveling on Route 14 in Canterbury when he spotted a suspicious vehicle pulling out of a driveway from an abandoned residence.

The trooper stopped the car near the Canterbury Fire House with the assistance of Plainfield Police Officer Ken Davidson. Police said that's when the officers identified one of the occupants of the car as 22-year-old Mark Mill, who is wanted on two failure to appear arrest warrants.

According to police, a struggle ensued and Mills allegedly yelled at the female driver to drive away as he held officers Davidson and Toney in the car and dragged them down the road.

Police said both officers were dragged a short distance before falling to the ground and sustaining non life-threatening injuries. Toney was treated at Day Kimball Hospital and released, while Davidson declined medical treatment at the scene.

State Police are searching for Mills and the female driver. Police described the vehicle as a silver Chevy Lumina with Connecticut registration plate 145-JCL. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the vehicle and its occupants should call State Police at 860-779-7900.
